What is going to happen to Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence?

Profootballtalk reports:

This is extremely disappointing for the Cowboys franchise and fan base because they also will be without second year defensive end Randy Gregory who has already been suspended for 4 games for a failed drug test.

With Cowboys defensive end Demarcus Lawrence joining the list of suspended players, The Cowboys are in a bad position that may alter their NFL Draft picks next Thurday.

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said this week that improving the team’s pass rush is a draft priority, something that didn’t come as much of a surprise given the current makeup of their defensive front.

David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports that Cowboys defensive end Demarcus Lawrence is facing a four-game suspension for a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy. Per the report, Lawrence is appealing the suspension — no penalties are announced until the appeal process has concluded — but that “all indications” are that the penalty will remain in place.

Hopefully, the Cowboys can address that shortcoming with the fourth pick of the draft, although they will probably explore other options as well because their need for help on that front likely goes beyond what one rookie can provide.

I wonder if Greg Hardy’s phone is ringing yet … doubt it.
