CelebNSports247.com reports that Boston Red Sox legendary slugger David Ortiz is back home and doing well after surviving a near fatal shooting at a local bar in the DR.

The retired slugger and World Series champ David Ortiz wrote on Instagram:

Being at home and seeing my family celebrate it is priceless thanks for all your prayers ? … the only bad thing is that I can’t kill the league by eating yet.

He also wrote it in Spanish as well:

Estando ya en casa y viendo a mi familia celebrarlo no tiene precio gracias por todas sus oraciones ??… lo único malo es que no puedo matar la liga comiendo todavía

Ortiz first photo captioned the trio of photos showing some scrumptious-looking grub:

In the photo you see a steak on a grill, a bowl of tortellini and some salted fish which is still off-limits for the on-the-mend Ortiz.

He added:

Too bad I can’t crush food yet.

A would-be assassin’s bullet cut through Ortiz’s back, exiting through his stomach, when he was the mistaken target at a Santo Domingo nightclub in an apparent case of mistaken identity.

More than a dozen people have been arrested by Dominican police for the botched hit, which left Ortiz in need of a trio of grueling surgeries.

ESPN reported that Ortiz was released from Massachusetts General Hospital on Friday, but will continue to recover at home with the help of a personal physician and a team of nurses.
