Klay Thompson Weighs In On Steve Kerr Marijuana Admission

CelebNSports247.com has this report as the Golden State Warriors players Klay Thompson and Draymond Green weigh in on using marijuana.

Moreover, Steve Kerr elaborated that he does “find it ironic had I said, ‘I’ve used Oxycontin for relief for my back pain,’ it would not have been a headline.” Steve told this to Tim Bontemps at the Washington Post.

The Q&A comes after Warrior head coach Steve Kerr admitted to using it for back pain in the past. In an interview with ESPN, Thompson supports his coach, but not recreational use!

Klay Thompson said:

“But not recreation use. That should not be of its use ever, but there’s obviously a medicinal side to [marijuana] that people are finding out have benefits, especially people in really high pain.”

If you recall, back in March 2011, Klay Thompson, was arrested for marijuana possession when he was playing for the Washington State Cougars. You might think Thompson’s stance seems hypocritical but it’s probably something a P.R. firm told him to say back then and now.

Not everyone feels the same as Klay Thompson, Suns coach Earl Watson points out, marijuana can still cause a lot of problems.

He points out:

“I’ve lived in that other life [of crime and drugs]. I’m from that area, so I’ve seen a lot of guys go through that experience of using it and doing other things with that were both illegal. And a lot of those times, those guys never make it to the NBA, they never make it to college, and somehow it leads to something else, and they never make it past 18.

“So when we really talk about it and we open up that, I call it that slippery slope. We have to be very careful on the rhetoric and how we speak on it and how we express it and explain it to the youth.”

In support of Watson, Houston Rockets development coach, John Lucas had this to say to ESPN about marijuana usage.

Lucas said:

“I never seen anybody tell me anything good that’s come from it,” Lucas said. “You go to the barber shop, you smell it on your hands — it’s the most addictive thing that is closest to nicotine that you can get.”

“The history of it is, medically [tetrahydrocannabinol] in marijuana helps the normal state. The problem is you don’t know how much to extract to have people to be functional, therefore, you can’t use it, because we can’t be able to pull what’s the right amount. The second part of it is, it hasn’t killed anybody, but it kills anybody who uses it, because it kills them emotionally, spiritually, and it will make you violate all your values. So, it kills you that way, but you don’t get killed from it.”

What are your thoughts on medical marijuana being legal? We support medical marijuana, so for us we understand Steve Kerr. All we can say is that no matter what a person takes, pain pill, oxy, weed or other things, the individual NEEDS to remember you control the usage. If you start thirsting, or can’t function without it then that is when you have a problem.

Until marijuana is completely decriminalized, expect some people to hedge in public.
