New York Knicks Player Accused of Rape

CelebNSports247.com reports that former New York Knicks player Kristaps Porzingis has been accused of rape a little over 1 year after the incident.

The woman claims to police that she visited the New York Knicks player Manhattan penthouse at his invitation around 2 a.m. on Feb. 7, 2018, citing law enforcement sources.

It is also being reported that the woman reportedly lived in the same building. She told police she waited over a year to come forward because she had been in discussions with Porzingis over a $68,000 hush-money payment. She is also saying the hush money was to pay for her brother’s college tuition. The alleged victim is said to be considered “believable,” according to the source.

A lawyer for New York Knicks player Porzingis, who now plays for the Dallas Mavericks, said the player denies the allegation “unequivocally.” Kristaps attorney also says that they alerted federal law enforcement in December to the accuser’s “extortionate demands.”

Kristaps Porzingis lawyer, Roland G. Riopelle said:

We also alerted the National Basketball Association months ago and they are aware of the ongoing investigation of the accuser by federal law enforcement. We cannot comment further on an ongoing federal investigation.

The New York Knicks player lawyer NBA spokesman Mike Bass told ESPN the league is “aware of the situation.”

The 7-foot-3 Latvian, Porzingis was traded to the Mavericks on Jan. 31. As sources previously said he had torn his ACL hours before the alleged assault on the woman, a Navy petty officer originally from Nigeria.

She is claiming that the New York Knicks player held her down on a bed, hit her several times in the face, and raped her, according to the source.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told the Post:

We have been instructed by federal authorities not to comment.
