But on Saturday August 20th, 2016 the interlude of uncertainty is over. The star contender from Baltimore, Maryland feels that he is more than ready to reach out and grab the brass ring of the division (ABC).

Yahu Rock Blackwell (15-0, 12 KO’s in the International Boxing League) will be making his return to the ABC when he faces Oklahoma’s Christopher Renty (2-6) in a cruiser weight bout Saturday at the Sugar Creek Casino in Hinton, OKC. The cruiser-weight fight will be televised on Comcast Sports Net (CSN).

After years of honing his craft, Yahu Rock Blackwell is truly a star powerhouse as a professional. He display’s everything you could ask for from a young fighter; crazy hand speed, power, good foot work, defensive prowess, and a dash of showmanship. Yahu also has the pedigree and decorated amateur background to warrant lofty expectations. Boxing 156 bouts, losing only 28 of them and capturing a South Atlantic Championship along the way.

Blackwell’s only professional defeat was during his professional debut in May 2009. Blackwell was suffering from a broken right thumb and life threatening levels of dehydration, as he pushed himself to make the 154 lb. weight limit.
Blackwell says:

“I remember that night like it was yesterday, I was completely burned out from trying to make the weight (154 lbs.), I practically starved the weight off. Not to mention, me and my family were struggling so hard at that time, I didn’t have any money to properly hydrate or even eat a decent meal.”

“But that night was a blessing in disguise, because that experience taught me everything I needed to know moving forward as a fighter.”

Under new management, Yahu Rock Blackwell’s career began to skyrocket. Blackwell traveled overseas and competed in the IBL. Compiling an impressive record of 15-0 with 12 KO’s, winning a WBU Novice World Title. On March 5th, 2014 Blackwell was also ranked 10th in the world rankings by the WBU and IBU sanctioning bodies.

As a 5’10 boxer puncher, Blackwell is muscular and compact.

IBL matchmaker Eric Butler says:

“He sits down on his punches, fast hands, has excellent footwork and displays what boxing analyst describes as a ‘very responsible’ level of defense considering his explosive offensive arsenal.”
