If you recall, the Cuban slugger agreed to return to the Mets with a record-breaking four-year, $110 million deal.

Yoenis Cespedes deal breaks down as follows:

  • The left fielder will earn $22.5 million in 2017
  • In 2018 and 2019 he will increase to $29 million
  • Followed by $29.5 million in 2020.

Translator, Melissa Rodriguez spoke for Yoenis Cespedes saying:

“Yes, having that really gives me a sense of calm. Knowing I am no longer year-to-year and my home is here with the Mets for the next four years, I am able to prepare and focus better.”

 

His teammate Asdrubal Cabrera is happy Cespedes is still with the Mets. He weighed in saying:

Cespedes hit 31 home runs, drove in 86 runs, hitting .280.
