Baylor Receiver Ishmael Zamora Suspended For Animal Abuse

If you recall, In late June, KXXV reported that a video of Ishmael Zamora, a wide receiver for the Bears, was shared on another Baylor player’s Snapchat. The video shows Zamora abusing his dog.

Viewers can hear Ishmael Zamora dog yelp as Zamora hits the dog with a belt. The player then kicks, yells and curses at the dog.

Baylor Receiver Ishmael Zamora Suspended For Animal Abuse

In a statement released by Baylor interim Head Coach Jim Grobe has weighed in saying:

“Our football program does not condone this behavior by anyone.”  

“We are deeply saddened by it and have worked together with the University to hold Ishmael accountable for his actions.”

Grobe adds:

Zamora “must undergo counseling and must relinquish the dog to an animal-friendly home,” according to a statement released by Baylor.

The gruesome video showing the incident surfaced on the internet sparked outrage from animal rights group PETA.

Grobe said:

“We have received communications about this incident from many passionate individuals over the past 10 days, and I am aware of their concerns.” 

“Our goal is for this discipline to be educational and restorative, and I believe that we have taken corrective measures to help Ishmael learn from his actions and better understand the behavior we demand of all students at the University.”

Ishmael has accepted the punishment, and vows that the incident “will never, ever, happen again.”

He states:

“I truly love my dog, however, I know that my actions showed differently and I know that I made a big mistake.”

Why don’t celebrities, rappers and sports figures realize that SnapChat, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook is NOT their friend. Everyone sees everything these days. It’s become a thirsty society for trash talking and gossip.
