According to a Tampa police report, a roommate woke about 5 a.m. to the sounds of a commotion in the house. The roommate went into a living room and saw an unknown suspect fleeing and the shooting victim on his back. The victim died at an area hospital.
His father, Eric Patterson, Sr., said
It was a senseless man. It was just senseless for somebody to do something like that.
Patterson Sr. added:
That’s my son. I want to know who did it.
Eric Patterson, 26, played for several teams in the NFL, he leaves behind 6-year-old and 7-month-old daughters. His family is demanding justice.
The fromer NFL players sister, Lana Bembo said:
Somebody knows something! It’s somebody that’s close to him. How it happened, it’s somebody that he knew. It’s not a stranger. It’s definitely not a stranger.”
Patterson Sr. pleaded:
So just be a man. You were a man to shoot him. Step up whoever it was.
