CelebNSports247.com got word that the Lakers drafted Lonzo Ball and announced him as their starting point guard on Friday.
After the announcement Magic Johnson thanked D’Angelo Russell for his two years with the organization and the questioned his leadership skills.
Johnson said Friday, according to the Los Angeles Daily News:
“I’m going to do what it takes to get the right players in here with the right mindset. D’Angelo (Russell) is an excellent player. He has the talent to be an All-Star. We want to thank him for what he did for us. But what I needed was a leader. I needed somebody that also can make the other players better and also (somebody) that players want to play with.”
Magic made sure to leave a lasting footprint on Russell backside. Basically, it was a “hey Russell don’t let the door hit up in the ass on the way out” moments.
It appears that Lonzo Ball more than likely got drafted by the Lakers because of all the hype and name appeal in the city that’s all about hype and name appeal. The UCLA Bruins star get to start his career in his home city, lets see if he can live up to his name as a Lakers point guard.
