Earlier this week, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott stated privately that he’ll sit out training camp unless he gets a new contract.
It looks like he has plans to do just that because Pro Football Talk is now stating that Elliott is likely to leave the country as the Cowboys get ready for training camp next week. Read on for more on Ezekiel Elliott Leaving The Country…
CelebNSports247.com is hearing that Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is currently believed to be making plans for a trip out of the country.
The news of Ezekiel Elliott leaving the country comes after Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that the Cowboys running back stated privately that he’ll sit out training camp unless he gets a new contract.
Well, it appears that maybe what is going on.
After PFT reported that Elliott is privately saying he intends to hold out absent a new contract, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports explained on Monday that it will be an important week between team and player and that things could go “sideways fast.”
Elliott, instead of going to Oxnard (by way of Dallas) for training camp, could be going somewhere else. Elliott spent an extended period of time in Mexico during his six-week suspension in 2017.”
Bottom line, Zeke wants a new deal, as he should. COO Stephen Jones has called Zeke the “straw if you will, that stirs our drink.” That drink could end up strawless for the start of camp, and possibly beyond, unless the Cowboys move quickly to make the straw one of the highest-paid drink-stirrers at his position — if not the highest.
In 2018, Elliott led the NFL in rushing with 1,434 yards on 304 carries. It was the second time Elliott won the league’s rushing title in his three years in the league.
Elliott will earn $3.85 million and $9.09 million in the final two years of his contract.
