CelebnSports247.com reports that the Dallas Cowboys are ‘likely’ to release Amari Cooper at the start of the new league year.

The news comes from ESPN’s Adam Schefter who reports:

Cowboys are “likely” to release WR Amari Copper by the start of the new league year, per league sources. Cooper is due $20 million in fully guaranteed money on the fifth day of the new league year, March 20.

As Schefter mentions, Cooper is due $20 million in fully guaranteed money on the fifth day of the new league year, which is March 20th. The Cowboys are currently $13,423,684 over the cap, according to OTC.

Where will Amari Cooper Go Next?

ESPN’s Louis Riddick – himself an NFL GM candidate during the recent hiring cycle – suggested New England as the best destination for the 27-year-old wide receiver.

Riddick said:

Yeah, I think this has New England Patriots written all over it because they really need someone who has No. 1-wide receiver capability in the form of Amari Cooper.

New England has been lacking in that department; the Patriots haven’t had a 1,000-yard receiver in the last two years. Cooper, meanwhile, is a consistent 1,000-yard producer, having achieved that mark five times in seven seasons (though he reached just 865 yards in 2021).

The Dallas Cowboys acquired Amari Cooper in a trade in 2018. After posting back-to-back 1,000 yard receiving seasons, Cooper’s numbers fell in 2021.
The 27-year-old will have his fair share of interest.
