DeMarcus Cousins 10-Day Nuggets Deal Has Rough Start!
According to reports, free agent center DeMarcus Cousins signed a 10-day contract with the Denver Nuggets on Friday. On Sunday, Nuggets fans got to see his legs didn’t move…
CelebnSports247.com reports DeMarcus Cousins has been in conversations with the Denver Nuggets for two weeks and will be eligible for six games in the stretch beginning with Friday’s against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Cousins, 31, averaged 9.1 points and 5.8 rebounds in 17 games for the Milwaukee Bucks this season. He had 15 points, 10 rebounds and three steals in his final game on Jan. 6 before Milwaukee decided against guaranteeing his contract for the rest of the season.
Horst told ESPN at the time:
We wouldn’t have been able to get through this difficult stretch of the season as successfully as we did without DeMarcus. At the end of the day, we made a strategic decision to have an open roster spot, but there’s nothing that would prevent us from partnering with DeMarcus again down the road. He was so good for us, and hopefully we helped him, too.
DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins Nuggets Debut:
Boogie laughed after putting up two points and six rebounds over 12 minutes in his Nuggets debut on Sunday, according to the Denver Post:
I felt like I had two cement blocks on my feet.
Hey, if this 10-day contract with the Nuggets doesn’t work out, Broncos general manager George Paton could do a lot worse at offensive tackle than a 6-foot-10, 270-pound road-grader with a chip on his shoulder.
Nuggets guard Austin Rivers said of Cousins, who helped carry Denver to a 117-111 win over the Detroit Pistons.
He gives us grit! Everybody knows he’s an enforcer … he’s still got to get his legs back, but he’s going to be big for this team. Especially with that second unit. He’s going to be a problem.
