Deshaun Watson UPDATE: Why Watson Will Plead The 5th In Deposition?
Things are coming to a head with the Deshaun Watson massage assault cases, but here is what’s happening now. Continue on for Deshaun Watson Deposition details…
CelebnSports247.com reports that the DA will present their findings to a grand jury, who will then decide if Watson is officially charged with anything.
It all depends on the charge!
If it is a misdemeanor, he likely won’t face punishment from NFL or jail time. If he is charged with any type of felony, that could change things up a lot.
What Deshaun Watson is expected to do for his Deposition:
A judge won’t delay him giving a deposition in his civil trial, which means he will be pleading the fifth to every question he is asked.
The reason he has to plead the fifth is things that he says in a civil case deposition could be used against him in a criminal trial.
Tom Pelissero Reports:
If you recall, Watson requested a trade from the #Texans in January 2021 — before accusations of sexual misconduct by more than 20 women first surfaced — and did not play last season. He has denied wrongdoing.
Other NFL teams continue to monitor the situation closely.
Not to mention, Tom adds:
Hardin told me he’s doing what any attorney would and “I’m not going to allow him to testify (in the civil cases) until the grand jury completes its investigation.”
Bottom line, Pelissero reports that “the district attorney investigating Deshaun Watson plans to present her case to a grand jury on Friday – the same day as Watson’s civil deposition.
Watson’s attorney, Rusty Hardin, told me a request to delay the deposition until Monday was denied, so Watson will plead the fifth.”
Despite Deshuan’s off-field drama NFL teams are still willing to trade for Watson:
Deshaun Watson has been accused in 22 civil lawsuits and 10 criminal complaints of sexual misconduct and sexual assault
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported that “multiple teams” are willing to trade for Watson even without the cases being resolved. Florio reported that the Panthers were willing to do that last year but Watson wouldn’t waive his no-trade clause to go to them.
Where could Watson land?
He has been connected to the Commanders, Eagles and Buccaneers. The sweepstakes for him should heat up now that those teams no longer have a shot at Rodgers or Wilson.
At the end of the day…he is running out of time as teams are already solidifying their QB positions for 2022.
