Eagles Cut Fletcher Cox But There’s A Twist!
NFL teams are doing everything they can to trim the fat and make room for new blood on their teams before the NFL draft kicks off, so many players are being traded and cut.
Thus being now free agent defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, who was drafted 12th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2012 NFL Draft…
CelebnSports247.com reports that the Philadelphia Eagles are instead releasing their six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle with a post-June 1 designation, according to NFL Network.
Who would have thought 6-years after signing a $103 million deal with the Eagles they’d cut him?
NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo dropped this bomb today:
Eagles are working to bring him back under a reworked contract, per source. But he also can now listen to others. https://t.co/0zVDNawjR6

The note about Cox, 31, potentially returning (on a new deal) is interesting and bears monitoring. But, as a free agent, Cox is now available to sign with any team in the NFL. Thus, his return isn’t necessarily guaranteed.
Assuming Cox doesn’t return, well, that’s a pretty significant development. He was obviously a very good and impactful player for most of his Eagles career. He was the best player on the team’s Super Bowl-winning roster in 2017. It’ll be weird to see him gone after he’s been such a mainstay with the team.
Before this all played out, Fletcher posted on his IG “FOREVER PHILLY!!!!!! ?? ??”:
