Houston Texans Not Backing Down on Demands For Deshaun Watson Trade!

The Texans want to trade Deshaun Watson badly, but the team has some huge demands!!!

CelebnSports247.com reports that Texans didn’t end up trading Deshaun Watson during the 2021 season, but despite his sexual assault issues off the field, the team has zero interest in backing down off their asking price.

According to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, Houston wanted at least five assets, including three first-round picks, in any trade for Watson.

The Texans are still planning to keep the price for Watson high this offseason. According to Howe, the organization has “no plans to reduce those demands” when the trade market heats back up this spring.

That is a massive price for a QB who did not take a snap in 2021 and is facing 22 civil lawsuits of alleged sexual misconduct.

Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio talked about quarterback Deshaun Watson’s status and if he will return to the team next year after sitting out this season due to off-field legal issues. Caserio, who made an appearance on Sports Radio 610, was asked about the team hiring head coach Brian Flores and if that would give Watson a reason to stay with the team. According to the Houston Chronicle, Caserio said “that more than likely would not be the case.”

Caserio said:

I think we have to be open-minded and just take the information and process it and ultimately make the decision that we feel makes the most sense for everybody involved, whatever that looks like.

Watson, who has a no-trade clause, has a fully-guaranteed contract of $35 million for next year.

The Texans paid Watson $10 million to not play in 2021, but paying him $35 million is on another level. He will either be traded or be playing with a Texans uniform on.
