CelebnSports247.com reports that Tony Pollard got the first carry of the game. Elliott wouldn’t see his first action until the offense’s seventh snap. There was a reason for that.
Team owner Jerry Jones said after the 54-19 win that the two-time rushing champ had violated a team rule during the week and it led to him being punished and not starting for the first time in his career when he was otherwise healthy and active. When he was asked for more details about it, he said it was a “phone going off in a meeting type issue.”

Elliott, however, told reporters that the Cowboys’ coaches simply switched things up.
It turned out to not be a big deal whatsoever with the way the team dismantled the Colts with ease in the second half. Zeke finished with 17 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown as the Cowboys routed the Colts 54-19. Ultimately, he ended up with more touches than Tony Pollard on the ground. Pollard had two touchdowns.
The two Cowboys backs currently rank 16th and 17th in the NFL in rushing attempts on the season, and both are in the top 20 in rushing yards.
The Cowboys are now 9-3 as they get ready to take on the Houston Texans next Sunday.
