This is good news for Jimmy Garoppolo since he has been in limbo with the San Francisco Niners for a minute on what they were going to do with him.
GMENHG reports:
The Giants trading for Garoppolo is out of the equation. With less than $5.5 million in remaining cap space, which ranks 30th in the league, New York doesn’t have the financial wherewithal to absorb Garoppolo’s $26.59 million cap hit.
The 49ers lost whatever leverage they had in trade talks when they appointed Trey Lance as their starter. Assuming there’s no team desperate enough — the Seahawks might be the only team who fits that bill — to give up assets for Garoppolo, the Giants could bide their time and wait for San Fran to release the signal-caller.
