Magic Johnson DID NOT Give Blood After Being Diagnosed with HIV!

Let’s get it right people!

Once again, “so-called” fact checkers are trying to twist the truth when it comes to Magic Johnson…

CelebnSports247.com reports that Magic did not give blood when he was diagnosed with HIV.

According to several reports, who posted a non-factual article after an old photo of Magic Johnson having blood drawn has been misrepresented, according to fact-checkers.

Here is the tea:

An image from a 2012 documentary showing NBA star Earvin “Magic” Johnson getting his blood routinely drawn at a doctor’s appointment has been miscaptioned and circulated online, fact-checkers at The Associated Press, Lead Stories and Reuters report. Johnson announced at a news conference in 1991 that he had tested positive for HIV and retired in 1996. The Red Cross does not accept blood donations from people who have ever had a positive HIV test and it screens all blood donations.

Johnson addressed the matter after a since-deleted viral Twitter photo of the 63-year-old alleged he “donated some of his blood to the Red Cross to help underprivileged communities help fight COVID-19.

The image — which was posted by a “satire” Twitter account on Aug. 18 — featured a smiling Johnson with his right arm outstretched, with a medical needle in his arm. The bio of the Twitter account even states: “spreading narratives with misinformation (satire).”

Johnson took to Twitter stating:

I’m aware of the false story circling the internet, and to be clear, I have never donated blood.

Johnson initially announced his HIV diagnosis in a live press conference in 1991, revealing then that he was immediately retiring from the NBA. He first learned about the diagnosis after a routine physical that year.
