The Giants’ organizational decision is to WIN now that the team has signed Nate Solder, to trade for Alec Ogletree, to pass on Sam Darnold, and draft Saquon Barkley with those amazing thighs.
Where does that leave Baton Rouge, LA native Odell Beckham Jr.? Read on to see what’s happening with the NY Giants…
Celebes we are hearing some interesting news when it comes to the 25-year-old New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr and his fate on the team since they nabbed Saquon Barkley.
Giants GM Dave Gettleman has labeled their new draft 2018 pick Saquon Barkley as the gold-jacket guy.
Meanwhile Saquon Barkley is looking to Odell Beckham Jr as his mentor saying, “what [OBJ’s] done the last four to five years, how he impacted the game, the culture of the game and impact on the field, it’s a no-brainer.”
The rookie running back Saquon praise continued speking with the NYPost, stating:
Obviously he has to continue to keep going, but I don’t see him stopping the way he works and the way he works on his craft and how passionate he is about the game. Hopefully as a running back I can help him elevate his game, also. But I see him as a gold jacket, hands-down.
Barkley goes on to say this about Odell:
I think, personally, in my opinion, he’s the best wide receiver in football. When it comes to money, I don’t have that decision. That’s up to the big guys up front.
When asked if Beckham will catch his $90-100 million deal, Barkley had a optimistic response:
I don’t know. … I’m pretty sure that they probably would. He’s a great player, I’m happy to have him here.
He added:
You can see when he’s in the locker room. … He’s Odell, that’s the best way I can put it, he’s Odell. He’s always happy, he always has a smile on his face. He’s a fun guy.
The Giants double B’s seem to be ready to rock the NFL this season, especially since Barkley feels he and Odell Beckham Jr have the same personality.
He says:
We have similar personalities and not similar personalities. He’s a very relatable person. He’s a very fun-loving type of guy. Welcome you with open arms. Just respect for each other’s game and respect for each other as a person.
He adds:
He knows New York, he knows what to do, what not to do – and I’m a fool if I only listen to what to do and don’t look at what not to do.
As for, Beckham is currently rehabbing his fractured left ankle, participated in position drills only.
Let’s NOT forget that the signs have been encouraging to the Giants since Mara sent that shape-up-or-ship-out message at the owners’ meetings that no one was untouchable. Furthermore, we hope Beckham has listened o the message from co-owner John Mara to grown up, finally!
We believe Odell will be alright since he posted this video saying, “A lil work never hurt nobody!”
Do you believe that Odell Beckham Jr NEEDS to get paid more! What do you think? OBJ is scheduled to make only $1.8 million in base salary this season and $8.4 million next season, the last two years of his rookie deal. Odell wants to be paid accordingly. Here’s a report from NFL Network at this week’s NFL combine.
CBSSports reported OBJ’s demands in February:
Per @MikeGarafolo: Odell Beckham Jr. wants at least $20 million in his next contract.
Will his future remain in NY?
