Shohei Ohtani Gives Classy Response Following Jack Morris Suspension!
This week, Tigers broadcaster Jack Morris was suspended for Shohei Ohtani remarks, but Los Angeles Angels Shohei Ohtani takes the high road when it comes to racism.
CelebnSports247.com reports that Shohei Ohtani says that he was NOT offended by Jack Morris, but apparently, everyone else was.
See, during the sixth inning, Morris was asked by play-by-play announcer Matt Shepard how the Tigers should pitch to Ohtani, and Morris responded by saying “be very, very careful” in an East Asian accent. When Ohtani came back up to bat in the ninth inning, Morris issued an apology on-air.
By the time of his apology, it was already too late because his true colors of racism spoke LOUDER than his apology.
Morris tried to clean it up with this apology:
It’s been brought to my attention and I sincerely apologize if I offended anybody, especially anybody in the Asian community, for what I said about pitching and being careful to Shohei Ohtani. I certainly respect and have the utmost respect for this guy. And I don’t blame a pitcher for walking him.
#CelebnSports247 #JackMorris #Apology was too late. #racism NEEDS to end with everyone. Jack was wrong for this. https://t.co/pTszdGnRdX

On Wednesday, Bally Sports Detroit said that Morris was suspended indefinitely.
Ohtani went 1-for-3 with three walks in Tuesday’s game, which the Angels won 8-2. He then hit a home run and pitched eight innings for the win on Wednesday. After the game, he was asked about the Morris matter. He said he had seen the video and then offered this response, as translated by his interpreter.
#CelebnSports247 #Shohei said he was NOT offended, just the rest of the world. It’s a different time now and everyone is hype-sensative. https://t.co/tx39TAAEuE
