SIGNED: Odell Beckham Jr. Joins RAMS; Cam Newton Signs with Panthers!
On Friday there were two big announcements when it comes to the NFL regarding former Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. and quarterback Cam Newton.
CelebnSports247.com reports that Odell Beckham Jr. has agreed to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams, the team announced Thursday.
Earlier this week Beckham became a free agent when he cleared waivers on Tuesday after being released by the Cleveland Browns.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver and friend Davante Adams was hoping OBJ was going to join the team, but he signed with the Los Angeles Rams instead.
The free-agent wide receiver joins a high-powered offense led by quarterback Matthew Stafford and adds to a depth chart at the position that already includes Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Van Jefferson.
Stafford said Thursday he has a lot of respect for Beckham, whom he played with at a Pro Bowl. He lauded Beckham for being “outstanding” both when the ball is in the air and after the catch and said he was “excited” to be able to work with him on the Rams.
Stafford said:
It’s an opportunity for us as a team, it’s an opportunity for him to come in here and prove himself to us. What our room is about in the receiver room is pretty special. I know he’ll fit right in and continue to get better and hopefully help us as a team.
On the East coast, The Carolina Panthers resigned quarterback Cam Newton.
Quarterback Cam Newton returned to the Panthers on Thursday with a one-year contract.
The deal is worth up to $10 million for the remainder of the season, including $4.5 million guaranteed and a $1.5 million roster bonus, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
