1 . Johnny Manziel Traded to Montreal Alouettes
According to reports that the 25-year-old quarterback Johnny Manziel joined the Canadian Football League this season but has yet to appear in a game as the Tiger-Cats have rolled with Jeremiah Masoli.
Instead, the Manziel trade included that Hamilton acquired defensive end Jamaal Westerman, wide receiver Chris Williams and two first-round draft picks (2020, 2021) from the Alouettes in exchange for Manziel and offensive linemen Tony Washington and Landon Rice.
ESPN reports that Alouettes general manager Kavis Reed said in a statement:
We have acquired an exceptional quarterback with undeniable talent. With his great mobility, his athletic abilities, and his instinct we believe that he will have a positive impact on our offense.
2. In regards to the ongoing Kellen Winslow Jr.’s rape case, there has been a twist.
According to reports, former Jets tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. identified Winslow’s lawyer as her attacker Wednesday in a strange court scene.
The 54-year-old woman testified during a preliminary hearing to determine whether Kellan Winslow, the NFL’s onetime highest-paid tight end, will stand trial.
Kellan pleaded not guilty last month to to multiple counts of kidnapping, rape, indecent exposure and burglary. But the twist came when the woman singled out Winslow’s attorney Brian Watkins, who was sitting alongside the former Pro Bowl tight end.
Watkins imediately told USA Today:
Don’t put Brian Watkins, accused of rape. Don’t do that, man. There will be defamation lawsuits all over the place
What? Watkins later said outside the San Diego County courtroom:
Well, she did not describe our defense and our client and didn’t ID him in court. She ID’d me. I didn’t have anything to do with this. You better not write that I did.
If convicted, Winslow faces up to life in prison.
3. LeBron James Lawsuit Dismissed!
LeBron James is no longer facing a lawsuit accusing him of stealing a talk show concept.
documents were filed on July 19th, indicating that case has been resolved and officially closed.
After the court reviewed the stipulation of the parties, a judge has dismissed the case.
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT:
(1) The Complaint is dismissed in its entirety with prejudice as against all the Defendants, with each party to bear its own costs and fees.
