Why California Press Charges Against NFL RB Adrian Peterson?

Over the weekend, NFL star running back Adrian Peterson was arrested for felony domestic violence.

Peterson spoke on the altercation stating that all he did was take off his wife’s ring during a heated debate onboard a plane heading to Los Angeles…

CelebnSports247.com previously reported on the incident between NFL star running back Adrian Peterson and his wife, Ashley, who had a verbal altercation, but claimed that nobody was hit.

For the record, Ashley, Adrian’s wife wife did not press charges, but the state of California pressed charges against him, resulting in the arrest.

Why was he arrested in California and why did the state press charges?

Peterson said:

The state of California pressed charges because there was a scratch on her hand. Literally that’s why I went to jail, because the ring left a scratch on her finger. We just had a disagreement. I know the headlines. Domestic violence. You’d think I beat her up or something. It was nothing like that.

Luckily for him, everything is going his way. According to a new report from TMZ, those charges will be dismissed.

Good news for Adrian Peterson … the NFL legend will NOT face felony domestic violence charges, despite initially being booked for the serious charge. A rep from the L.A. DA’s office tells TMZ Sports they’ve elected not to charge the 36-year-old running back. But, Peterson isn’t totally in the clear just yet. The case will now be sent to the Los Angeles City Attorney … who could opt to bring misdemeanor domestic violence charges against AD.

The couple had been in Los Angeles during the lead-up to the Super Bowl, and attended the DirecTV party together.

Peterson’s case will be referred to the L.A. City Attorney, which might press misdemeanor charges.

The running back played a total of four games this past season for the Titans and Seahawks.
