According to reports Higgins turned down more money to sign elsewhere with multiple teams because he loves playing with Baker Mayfield.
Higgins will compete for the third wide receiver spot with sixth-round pick Donovan Peoples-Jones and others.
Cleveland.com reports:
The Browns met with the receiver’s agent, Michael Swensen, at the NFL combine about Higgins’ future, and told him they were still interested in the 2016 fifth-round pick.
After getting on Kitchens’ bad side last season when he returned from a sprained knee, Higgins rarely played and almost never got any targets. In the Seattle game Oct. 13, he declined to enter the game in the fourth quarter, and was never able to recover from it with last year’s staff.
He finished the season with four catches for 55 yards and one TD. He was one of two Browns players who got in a hole with the coaching staff and couldn’t dig themselves out. The other was tight end David Njoku, who had his fifth-year option exercised Monday.
