Yadier Molina BLAST MLB For “Injustice” Not Landing Gold Glove Nomination!
It’s known that Yadier Molina is one of the best defensive catchers of all time, his nine Gold Gloves ranking third in baseball history at the game’s most challenging position, behind Ivan Rodriguez’s 13 and Johnny Bench’s 10. Read on why Yadier Molina BLAST MLB…
CelebnSports247.com reports that this year, Molina is not among the three finalists for the National League’s award, and Yadier has something to say about it.
The 38-year-old pending free agent went on Instagram and alleged that “it’s clear that they don’t want this Puerto Rican Jibarito to [tie Bench]. … I’m still the best.”
The St Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina took to social media to air his feelings about the MLB saying, “I see an injustice.”
He posted:
I respect all the finalists in catching in the 2020 national league!
Now … I see an injustice to those who decide who or not …
I do not know if it is @mlb or whoever it is but it is clear that they do not want this Puerto Rican jibarito to tie with the great @ johnnybench_5 … it is a shame that they judge me for not supporting the league at all and not being the “puppet” of them .. For me at 38 years old I’m still the best .. ask every catcher in mlb and they will tell you !!!
The numbers decided who was up for a Gold Glove!
Specifically, the numbers are the SABR Defensive Index, used by Rawlings this year to determine the Gold Gloves because of the shortened season, with no human element involved at all — a human element that traditionally has rewarded past-their-prime veterans (ahem) with awards earned based on reputations.
The numbers said that Molina, who made as many errors this season as noted defensive liability Gary Sanchez of the Yankees, ranked behind finalists Tucker Barnhart, Willson Contreras, and Jacob Stallings — which means that Molina wasn’t even in the top half of defensive catchers in the National League Central this season.
