Last week, Yadier Molina was heated, demanding an apology from Orioles outfielder Adam Jones. Now he is in negotiations with the Cardinals.

Molina is a major asset to the Cards and they are completely aware of that. He is very passionate about the game, that is why general manager John Mozeliak and Molina’s representative continue discussions Monday. It’s also been noted that Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. said the club is prepared to make Molina “a significant offer.”

This will make Molina the highest-paid catchers in the game.
Molina expressed his extension would allow him to finish his career with the Cardinals.
That means Molina said he does not want contract talks to spill into the regular season, he wants an agreement by Sunday.
If not, the he said he would explore free agency at season’s end.
Note, Molina is entering the final guaranteed year in a five-year extension he signed in 2012.
That means Yadier has a mutual option for 2018, which means he has the right to walk away.

If a deal goes through, this would be the first “iconic” and high-dollar player of this era to get that chance.
