CelebNSports247.com has learned that Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin is entering a treatment facility after receiving a four-game suspension.

Doug Martin said in a statement issued Wednesday that he is entering treatment immediately. He wants to “receive the help I truly need” and will not be appealing his ban.

Below, RB Doug Martin, kicks off his statement saying in a post via National Insider for NFL Network/NFL.com journalist, Ian Rapoport [via Larry Brown Sports]:

“I cannot win these personal battles alone. … No shame in asking for help.”

It was reported earlier this week [via LBS] that Buccaneers running back Doug Martin was dealing with undisclosed personal issues. before it was revealed that he was suspended for drug abuse, Doug Martin had reportedly stepped away from the team. The reason why he removed himself in advance of the final game of the regular season was unanswered.

Later Wednesday afternoon it was revealed by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Martin tested positive for adderall. He writes:

“The @NFL says #Bucs RB Doug Martin is suspended for violating the PED policy. I’m told it’s for adderall & part of the issues he’s battling.”

Prior to that report, there had been speculation that the Buccaneers are planning to release Martin during the offseason. It appears that there’s more here than is being revealed publicly about the 27-year-old.

Hopefully this is a wake up call during his 4 day suspension. Hopefully he gets the help needed. As for him being cut, there is no word at this time.
