CelebNSports247.com reports that Dion Waiters is going to be really light in his pockets after the Miami Heat announced they have suspended him 10 games without pay for “conduct detrimental to the team.”
Dion Waiters suspension began with Friday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, when Waiters was not with the team for the game at Staples Center reports ESPN.
He was listed as an “illness” was actually some extra strong edibles that had him suffering a panic attack after consuming potent THC-infused edible gummies.
The Washington Post reports:
Waiters had missed the game Thursday against the Suns in Phoenix because of a stomachache, and he took an unfamiliar substance, identified by Fox Sports radio host Andy Slater as gummies, while the team was flying to Los Angeles. He was treated by medical personnel on the plane and did not attend the game Friday night against the Lakers.
The scary thing about all of this is that if you eat gummies with THC in them you need to know the level of THC because you can get very sick or in Waiters’ case have a panic attack. The NBA should take into consideration that he was unaware the had THC. And for the person who gave them to him, he is wrong for no looking out for his teammate and telling him to only eat half of just one gummy. Things like that have to be gaged. If you have a chocolate bar with THC you only in a 16th of it. YOU NEVER eat the whole damn thing unless you want to overdose yourself. Com’on people have some common sense!
The Heat said in a statement:
We are very disappointed in Dion’s actions this season that include the very scary situation on Thursday night and grateful that the outcome wasn’t worse. There have been a number of instances this season in which Dion has engaged in conduct detrimental to the team.
The Heat believe Waiters was given those gummies by a teammate but refused to tell who that teammate was, according to TheAthleticNBA:
The Heat believe Waiters was given the “gummy” by a teammate, but Waiters has been reluctant and has decided not to say who provided it, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. Waiters has had a tumultuous series of events with Miami this season.
