CelebnSports247.com has learned that the New Orleans Pelicans have focused on three possible destinations for for JJ Redick.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Pelicans have focused on the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics as potential trade destinations since the Feb. 2 NBA deadline for teams to aggregate acquired players in a trade.
JJ Redick is a 15-year NBA veteran for the Pelicans; he has had a highly productive career, averaging 13 points and shooting 41.4 percent from 3-point range in 912 NBA games.
So why could Redick be heading to Brooklyn?
Redick’s family resides in Brooklyn, and is believed to have a strong preference to return to the northeast area. No deal is imminent yet, sources said.
In the 76ers, Nets and Celtics, the Pelicans are targeting a championship contender for a trade home. All three teams have expressed interest, sources said. Redick is on a $13.1 million contract that expires at the end of the season.
Currently, New Orleans has two young, promising guards in Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Kira Lewis who are on the precipice of rotation spots in the crowded backcourt.
