CelebNSports247.com reports that on Tuesday, it was announced that the team would not be exercising their team option on veteran safety.
Malcolm Jenkins, the 32-year-old safety told reporters a few months ago that he wouldn’t play in 2020 without a new contract from the team.
Jenkins said via Rob Maaddi:
I won’t be back on the same deal.
He thought he was safe as a safety, but he has quickly learned today that he is dispensable.
Malcolm added at the time:
That won’t happen. The market is good for safeties now. I consider myself in the top tier.
It doesn’t matter how great of a player he was with the Eagles, the Philadelphia Eagles are showing their true colors by releasing him.
A leader on and off the field, Malcolm Jenkins’ impact helped shape our franchise.
