The Dallas Morning News reports:
Story and the Rangers had talked in November about the shortstop job in November before the club signed Corey Seager. Story, who still lives in Irving, had expressed interest in coming back to Texas at that time. The Rangers, however, signed Seager and Marcus Semien, who moved from short to second in 2021 with Toronto. Semien will play second with the Rangers. The total cost for the pair: $500 million.
Since that time, baseball has endured a three-month lockout and, in the ensuring re-opening of business, a free agent frenzy. Story and Carlos Correa, are the two everyone wants to sign in the MLB. Both players are high-profile free agents on the market, and it appears only Correa is left to land.
