The Giants announced this week that they would become the first team in Major League Baseball to play in Pride uniform.

The Pride uniform will take place when The Giants go head to head with the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.

Why is The San Francisco Giants leading as the pioneer wearing a Pride uniform for Pride Month?

Well, that is simple. It’s time for a little education.

San Francisco is one of the largest and most prominent LGBT communities in the United States and is one of the most important in the history of American LGBT rights and activism alongside New York City. The city itself has, among its many nicknames, the nicknames “gay capital of the world” and “the gay Mecca”, and has been described as “the original ‘gay-friendly city’.” This makes a lot of sense for The Giants to be leading in the MLB since they are repping the city best known as “the original ‘gay-friendly city‘” in the world.
