Shawn Kemp Charged With First Degree Assault In Gun Incident, Facing Life In Prison!
We previously reported that the Supersonics legend Shawn Kemp showed up to a Washington court on Thursday to fight back in his parking lot shooting case pleading not guilty to the felony charges. Well that didn’t go to well…
CelebnSports247.com has an update and it’s not looking too good for Kemp since he has been hit with first-degree assault charges as a result of an altercation he was involved in last month.
Why did things not go in his favor? Well, that’s simple he was seen firing a gun in a parking lot.
TPS reports:
Following the shooting, Kemp was arrested for what was described as a “drive-by shooting.” Footage later emerged of the former six-time NBA All-Star shooting his gun in a parking lot full of cars.
However, the former SuperSonic star was released after his arrest, as authorities in Washington felt they needed more time to investigate. But after more than a month of looking into the incident, they’ve decided to charge Kemp for first-degree assault, which could carry a life sentence.
We told you, earlier this week, that Kemp denies any wrongdoing, claiming he was acting in self-defense. And his attorney has even confirmed that their client will not be pleading guilty, but now he is facing a life sentence.
What are your thoughts on Shawn Kemp Charged With First Degree Assault In Gun Incident?
Kemp was taken by the Seattle SuperSonics with the 17th overall pick in the 1989 NBA Draft. He spent eight seasons in Seattle, leading the team to the 1996 NBA Finals, where they lost to Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls.
All that means nothing now, if he goes to jail for life. His legacy is completely tarnished. Life is decisions and this seems to have been a bad one.
Sorry to hear this Shawn.
